The bigger picture
Your weight, in perspective
One reading is a moment. Your trend tells you more.
Use the same scales at a similar time, preferably in the morning. You can weigh weekly if daily checks feel unhelpful. Saving the same date updates that reading.

Your readings will build the picture. Weekly weighing is welcome; the average comparison appears when there are at least 3 readings in each seven-day period.
Why the scales can rise even when your routine is consistent
Water retention, salt, carbohydrate intake, food and bowel contents, and hormonal changes can affect scale weight. A higher reading does not necessarily mean you gained body fat; one flat week does not tell the whole story either.
Look across several weeks alongside waist measurements, strength, energy and how clothes fit. The chart cannot tell whether a change is water, fat or muscle. If the longer-term trend is not moving towards your goal, ask a coach to review your routine.
Unexpected, rapid changes with swelling, breathlessness or feeling unwell need medical advice. Do not dismiss them as just water.
